Fujitsu PC has appointed Ivan Chan to the newly created role of Australian country manager. Chan has relocated from Hong Kong, where he was product manager for Samsung.

One of Chan's first priorities will be to find a new distribution sales manager following the recent departure of David Niu, who had only been acting in the role since March after replacing Wesley Wong.

Fujitsu PC head of education and corporate sales, Adrian Mead, said Niu had been with the company for six years "and wanted to do new things" but declined to comment further on the circumstances surrounding his departure.

As previously reported in ARN, Fujitsu PC's former warranty services partner, BP Computers, recently terminated its contract with the vendor, claiming it was an unmanageable arrangement.

Multimedia Technology has been a Fujitsu PC distributor for several years. Its general manager, John Hassall, said he had been experiencing ongoing problems with the company.

Victoria-based distributor, Westan, ceased working with Fujitsu PC two years ago and launched proceedings against the vendor shortly afterwards.

Managing director, Victor Aghtan, confirmed its legal proceedings against Fujitsu PC related to a marketing fund dispute but was unable to comment further.

Fujitsu PC's Chan said the appointment of Dingo Technologies as its new services partner would improve customer satisfaction.

Dingo is headed up by Johnson Hsiung, managing director of another Fujitsu PC distributor, Bluechip Infotech.

"Customer satisfaction is a very important issue for us, and we have high expectations of Dingo because it understands the market," Chan said.

The new country manager also has plans to hire additional staff and recruit more premium resellers.

"My role here is to expand the business - particularly in the corporate, education and retail markets," he said.
