Digiland has teamed with Acer to provide its complete range of products throughout Australia. Acer has appointed the distributor a Mastergold channel partner. Digiland will take on the vendor’s range of desktops, notebooks, handhelds, servers and peripherals.
“This is a new relationship for us with Acer,” Digiland national marketing manager, James MacBeth, said. “It certainly gives our customers more options from a desktop and notebook perspective.”
Until now Digiland has only offered its resellers Compaq and HP desktop and notebook products and the new relationship will give Digiland resellers more brand choice. Acer channels manager. Greg Mikaelian. said both parties would profit from the relationship.
“For Acer, the partnership extends our reach into the commercial and SME markets,” he said. “Conversely, Acer’s leading position in the education and government segments will open up significant opportunities for Digiland.”
The distribution arrangement covers the Australian market only. As yet there are no plans to extend the relationship to Singapore and Malaysia. However the vendor is pleased to be signing on with a global distributor.
“From Acer’s perspective having a stable parent company that has been in operation for a long time is very positive,” MacBeth said.
The distributor will also use Acer’s Partner eCommerce (APeC) system.
Digiland will be able to configure systems online and ship the systems within five days. The APeC system will also allow the distributor to track the progress of orders for its partners. Digiland also hopes to help Acer push into the SME market.
“Education is quite a large market for Digiland as well as the small and medium businesses,” MacBeth said. “We predominantly deal in those areas, but also target the value customer who is looking for a recognised brand.
“Our intention is to give our reseller base some choice at a good price point and Acer suits that market.”
