Multimedia Technology adds Freecom and Everki

Distributor meets reseller demand for ruggedised products

Multimedia Technology has added two vendors to its portfolio to widen its product range.

The new recruits are German-based storage player, Freecom, and notebook accessories manufacturer, Everki.

Multimedia national marketing manager, Philip Jackson, said Everki hadn’t been well represented or distributed locally in the past. “We recognised we had a fairly big gap in our offerings in that space,” he said. “Everki caters for the high-end part of the market with its leather range, right down to the budget end.”

Jackson said Everki fitted into the consumer electronics and mobile computing space. Education, SMB, corporate and government industries were target markets. Resellers can also access point-of-sales materials. Multimedia also offers Everki bundles with a selection of notebooks. The distributor carries Sony Vaio machines and Fujitsu Lifebooks.

One of the reasons for taking on Freecom was reseller demand for ruggedised products, Multimedia product manager, Mark Eichler, said. The vendor’s hardware also complements its range of Panasonic Toughbooks and Shintaro enclosures.

The Freecom Toughdrive models are available with USB 2 and Firewire 400 interfaces, and range from 160GB to 500GB.

Jackson said Freecom addressed a variety of resellers.

“Freecom competes very strongly in the Apple space in the European markets. This range will apply to people that are more sensitive about their data from a business continuity point of view,” he said.

The distributor will showcase the new range of products, as well as its broader vendor line-up, at the Multimedia Expo in Brisbane on October 15.
