Protac expands Kingmax distribution

Protac is extending its range of Kingmax products as a part of plans to broaden its distribution lines.

The NSW-based assembler and distributor has had rights to the Kingmax line since June and previously focused on the Kingmax DRAM modules. The company now plans on supplying Kingmax SD, MiniSD, MicroSD USB flash drives, as well as the water-and-dust proof USB Super Stick flash drive.

Protac managing director, Gary Jeng, claimed distributing the entire line of Kingmax flash products could add $5- $6 million a month tothe company's bottom line.

Protac will promote the Kingmax line with resellers. A series of promotions - such as magazine giveaways - targeting the consumer market will follow.

"Kingmax has been in the international market for 15 years with flash memory products. The focus on quality is so good we can offer an international lifetime warranty," Jeng said.

Protac also distributes Apogee high-end DRAM products.

Jeng said it was open to representing other memory vendors. Protac's attempts to expand its distribution activities come as a part of a company shift away from PC assembly, an area that Jeng claimed was unsustainable.
