Local government management solutions vendor Civica Pty Limited (www.civica.com.au.) has acquired Fujitsu’s local authorities business in Australia and New Zealand.

The acquisition includes Fujitsu’s existing local authorities customer base, intellectual property rights to Fujitsu’s local authority software applications, and all associated assets.

Fujitsu’s local authorities customer service and support team bring a wealth of additional local government experience to Civica and will provide ongoing support for the Fujitsu applications in line with existing arrangements.

Civica’s Managing Director, Peter Anderson, says: “This acquisition is a very exciting strategic development for our local government business and is in line with our commitment to continually expanding our presence in the local government industry.

“Fujitsu’s 60-plus local authority customers in Australia and New Zealand will significantly strengthen our position as a leading supplier to this sector and provide an excellent opportunity to build our presence in the New Zealand local government market.”

Civica has more than 250 local government customers in Australia and New Zealand using the company’s software and services.

Civica has gained substantial new clients in the last financial year including Fairfield Council, Wollondilly Council, Leeton Council and Sydney Catchment Authority in NSW, plus sites at Georgetown Council and Dorset Council in Tasmania, Plantagenet Council in Western Australia and Yarriambiack Council, Northern Grampians Shire and Falls Creek Resort Management in Victoria.

Civica’s Australian operations will expand to include the existing Fujitsu premises in Orange, New South Wales and a new office will be established in Auckland, New Zealand.

Civica will consolidate its two existing Sydney offices at Hurstville and North Sydney into a new regional corporate headquarters at Mascot this month. Civica’s premises in Newcastle and Melbourne have been expanded recently to cater for an increase in staff at those locations. Civica employs more than 300 staff throughout Australia and New Zealand.
