Clearhouse scales up asset disposal

Victoria-based Clearhouse Technology is investing in larger facilities to meet rising demand for its asset recovery services.

Its new 5000sqm Port Melbourne premises is a big step up from the company's existing 700sqm building. It will relocate in late January. Managing director, Tony Nestola, said the company had planned to move earlier this year but several potential locations fell through.

He claimed a bigger processing capacity would make Clearhouse Technology the largest independent asset recovery company in Australia.

"We see the market growing. There's a huge need in the market for us to do integration services and asset recovery, reporting and disposal," he said. Nestola attributed demand to increasing security concerns about asset and media destruction as well as environmental awareness.

Clearhouse is on track to process more than 120,000 assets, or 936 tonnes of computer product, this financial year. This was up from about 80,000 units processed last year. Recent customer wins include a refreshed contract with Australia Post for 9000 units, and an asset recovery job for an undisclosed federal government agency for about 26,000 pieces.

Nestola said it was also Dell's partner on a number of jobs, including its Victorian State Government business. Several new public sector contracts would also kick off in the coming months. The sector now accounted for 40 per cent of the company's business, he said.
