Datacentre vendor, APC, has launched a Professional Services Business offering for its channel partners to sell on to customers.

The service is focused around green energy and compliance and includes datacentre assessment, carbon footprint assessment, datacentre design and engineering services, as well as engineering services and training services for IT and facility managers.

APC has also launched online tools, including carbon calculators. Country general manager, Gordon Makryllos said the Professional Services Business offering was in response to partner demand.

"Customers have found a need for it with the increasing density of deployment within a datacentre and as they become more aware of green concerns and reporting on carbon footprints becomes mandatory," Makryllos said.

The service is staffed by 12 consultants and has been built over the last year through a pilot program. Makryllos said further consultants would be brought on as demand increased.

"All our partners at Gold, Silver and Authorised level have access to the services, which they can rebrand as a value-add," he said. "Our dozen Gold and Silver partners have been pushing for the service the most, but Authorised partners with niches will also be able to make good use of it."

In June, APC announced it would integrate its software management platforms with IBM's Tivoli Monitoring energy management tools to give datacentre managers more visibility into and control over systems.
