Local data security services company, MCI Datacom, has signed a contract with Indonesian-based group PT InterIndo Global which will see the two merge into one business.

Company CEO, Colin Mackenzie, said the deal would allow it to expand its presence into the Asian market.

In particular, MCI Datacom would aim at expanding its product and services offerings to Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia over the next 12 months, he said.

The company would also look to further expanding its Australian operations.

“We are reconfiguring our niche, as we’re finding more and more businesses are looking for someone to provide an outsourced security model,” he said.

A Fortinet platinum reseller partner, MCI Datacom provides a range of managed security services to both medium and large businesses, principally based in New South Wales, Australia.

The company is a subsidiary of the MCI Group, a privately owned company based in the US.

Although unwilling to disclose financial details, Mackenzie said the deal was valued in the millions.

MCI Datacom would take a controlling interest in the merged business.

The newly combined Asian company would be renamed Seccom Networks, to avoid confusion with the telecoms company, MCI WorldCom, he said.
