iVox turns to Global Switch for co-location

Wholesale white label provider of IP Telephony, iVox Communications is co-locating its national VoIP network infrastructure at Global Switch's carrier neutral data centre.

The co-location in Global Switch's Sydney premises will allow iVox to supplement its existing network with up to 10 carriers including Telstra, Optus, PowerTel, Pacific Teleport and Pipe Networks. iVox also manages a series of gateways in each capital city.

"We changed over to Global Switch because it will allow iVox to minimise the hop between IP networks in Australia which will provide a more seamless quality of voice," said iVox CEO, Romain Bonjean.

Another deciding factor in switching from its previous host SecureTel, was that the new co-location would permit peering exchange, Bonjean said.

"This will allow us to avoid IP backbones that divert calls around the world to various carriers," he said. "It will mean lower delays, lower latency and better voice quality."

Although Bonjean previously stated that iVox was looking to expand its customer base, he said the company would retain its focus on vertical channel partners to add new customers.

"The real focus for this year will be to continue our push through existing channels and to further our market penetration with our customers," Bonjean said.

iVox IP Telephony sells through vertical channel partners and ISPs, telephony and technology companies but is also moving into SMBs that have similar high data requirements.
