Services include maintaining, building and managing datacentres
Julia Talevski 16 May, 2008 14:05:10

A new dedicated datacentre project management group has been formed in response to the growing demands in the market.

Known as the Norfolk Data Centre Group (NDCG), it will be focused on maintaining, managing and building datacentres. Its managing director, Glenn Wallace, said datacentres were under a huge amount of pressure.

"We've been preparing to go to market for six months. This market is huge in regards to the changes that are happening within datacentres and we're ready to assist customers in that area," he said. "We offer the ability to project manage and upgrade power facilities, heating and cooling requirements. Due to the size of the group, we can also help build a datacentre on behalf of the customer."

The Norfolk Group consists of three lines of business including electrical and communications, mechanical and property and services.

Wallace said the group was currently in discussion with about 20 customers.

"We can remove the pain for the customer trying to find an electrical group to do electrical and emergency power and also provide mechanical, communications, security and building management services," he said. "Customers have a single point of contact for their datacentre service requirements."

A survey of 3000 datacentre managers found that 60 per cent of respondents plan to expand the physical footprint of their datacentre within the next 10 years.
