SecureServ launches professional services company

Security distributor expands presence into Melbourne and Canberra

Security distributor, SecureServ, has established a professional services subsidiary to support resellers.

General manager, Vic Whiteley, said the subsidiary, called SecureServ Global Services, aimed to sell professional services through its resellers in areas like security, convergence, infrastructure and project management.

“It’s an important part of our growth. It’s really to enable our resellers to add to their expertise and their resources, without having to do it themselves,” he said. “It’s something they can add more value to at their end and make some margin out of it as well. They can also be viewed by their customers as more of a solutions orientated organisation. The services market is the fastest growing part of the industry.”

On the reseller’s behalf, Whiteley said it could also provide bundled service solutions and plans to enter the managed security services arena.

“It’s all tied to the channel and making them more productive and solutions orientated,” he said.

The new business will be headed up by vice-president, Greg White. He was recently the CIO of construction organisation, Bilfinger Berger. He has also previously worked for Enterasys, Cabletron, Global Network Technology Services and Allied Technologies.

Whiteley aims to go into the Asian market with the services business, which he claimed could also help resellers move into new areas.

“In some cases we can’t go offshore because of the nature of our vendor relationships, but through Global Services, we can assist vendors in Singapore for example, with implementing the product,” he said. “That’s certainly in our sights to do that.”

In other news, the distributor has opened a new office in Melbourne and Canberra. John Moyes will headup the Canberra base and Roger Barnard will look after Melbourne. The distributor has also hired Nevyl Lennox as its sales manager.

“Activity in Canberra is really picking up for us and it was necessary to have someone down there,” Whiteley said. “We’ve got a number of Canberra-based resellers and they want to deal with a local person.”

In May, Whiteley highlighted the distributor was going through a rapid growth mode.
