Brightpoint Australia (Pty.) Limited, a subsidiary of Brightpoint, Inc, a leading global distributor of wireless devices and provider of customised logistic services to the wireless industry, today has boosted its marketing and sales team with the appointment of Rick Gawdat as General Manager of Sales and Marketing. This is effective immediately.
“Rick offers Brightpoint extensive experience and knowledge in the Australian and SE Asian Technology markets specialising in the Retail, Consumer, Telcoms and Games arena”, said Felix Wong, Managing Director Brightpoint Australia. “Rick will be focused on bolstering the Sales and Product Management teams by aligning product launches and sales strategies with the aim of achieving Brightpoint’s budgeted revenue and gross margin targets.”
Prior to joining Brightpoint, Rick was General Manager, Consumer Sales for FOXTEL and Director of Games & Entertainment for the Nokia Multimedia Group APAC, Games & Entertainment Business Manager for Nokia Australia.
Rick was also Group Sales Manager PC Platform for the Home & Entertainment Division of Microsoft Australia. While at Microsoft, Rick played an integral role in launching Xbox into the Australian market as well as leading a team of sales heavyweights.
“As an authority in retail, Rick has extensive experience in sales, account management and marketing,” continued Felix. “He holds strong relationships with retailers that assists with moving products off shelves.”
Before joining Microsoft in 1997, Rick also held senior roles at some high profile FMCG companies in Australia.
Rick has a Master of Business Administration (Marketing) from the University Of Technology Sydney School Of Management.
