Fuji Xerox Phaser 8560
This multifunction printer uses an emulsion aggregate toner which fuses at a lower temperature. According to Fuji Xerox, the soy-based, solid ink technology used in the Phaser 8560 MFP reaffirms the company's long-term commitment to environmental issues. Solid ink printing produces 90 per cent less waste than laser printing which results in a much lower environment impact. As an example, the vendor claims a colour laser printer can produce over 70kg of waste after 100,000 prints, while a solid ink printer produces a little over 2kg. The Phaser 8560 MFP prints at up to 30ppm in colour and mono, has a print cycle of 85,000 pages per month and a paper input capacity standard of 1675 sheets with two-sided printing. The printer has 1GB standard memory, Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX, USB 2.0 and true Adobe PostScript 3 and PCL 5c emulation.
Distributed by Ingram Micro, Synnex, Alloys International, J Mills and BMS Technology.

Oki C5950
The C5950 has been designed for businesses with a wide range of colour and mono printing requirements. Able to handle paper weights of up to 203gsm and print banners of up to 1.2m long, the C5950 comes with free utilities such as Template Manager 2006 to help businesses create a range of professional-looking documents in-house and reduce their dependence on expensive outsourcing, Oki claims. Users can also keep an eye on costs by using the included software to monitor and track resources used in the office. Print Control keeps a record of colour page usage, while PrintSuperVision allows the management of consumables usage via remote monitoring of networked printers. The C5950 has a mono print speed of 32ppm and 26ppm for colour, as well as high toner and paper capacity to help control printing costs.
Distributed by Ingram Micro, Alloys International and XiT.
RRP $1650
Samsung CLP-300
Samsung claims the CLP-300 offers efficient performance in a compact design and is more environmentally friendly than previous models. Its 'easy toner' change means users only change the toner, and not the drum, on a regular basis. Samsung said its propriety No-Nois technology means the CLP-300 emits minimal noise at 48 decibels. The printer has 32MB of memory on-board, prints at a resolution of up to 2400 x 600dpi on paper, labels, card stock and transparencies and has a first page print-out time of 14 seconds. Other features include USB connectivity and a 150-sheet input capacity. The CLP has a print speed of 17ppm in black or 4ppm colour and weighs 13.6kg. According to the vendor, it has a monthly duty cycle of 24,200 pages. Users also have the option of purchasing a model with 10/100Base-TX Ethernet built-in.
Distributed by Ingram Micro, Dynamic Supplies, Altech, Westan, Cellnet, XiT and Alloys International.
