AirTight updates its WLAN planning software
AirTight Networks this week released the latest version of its wireless LAN planning application, with improvements that let the software more accurately model a wider array of radio frequency behaviors.
SpectraGuard Planner lets administrators predict indoor and outdoor wireless coverage and performance, and show the coverage and performance results in a series of maps, diagrams and lists. The software factors in variables such as building materials, and later makes use of actual measurement data to fine-tune a WLAN layout.
Version 4.0 of Planner now models support for additional brands and types of access points and antennas. RF modeling has been improved with a feature that reveals how the RF energy access points on one floor spills over to floors above and below them.
The layout editor has been improved to better show RF activity in buildings.
The new software is being used in-house by AirTight's Wi-Fi planning service for enterprise users. For about a penny per square foot, the service inputs a building or floor map from a customer and then generates a complete WLAN site plan. The plan can be for RF coverage or security only, or both.
SpectraGuard Planner 4.0 starts at US$2,495.
