Telco wholesaler start up, Vocus, has appointed Dr. Paul Brooks as its chief operations officer.
His first priority will be to leverage his experience in processes and network automation to deploy carrier grade processes so customers can get on-board quickly and easily.
Vocus, which began operations in November last year, currently has five staff. Brooks said the company was keen to expand its national presence in all major cities and would add more staff as required to meet demand.
"We're planning to expand in a sensible matter, and automate systems where possible so the physical personnel are only required for things that can't be automated," he said.
Brooks said Vocus' initial plans were to establish points of presence in the US and build the local ISP and Voice Service Providers partner network.
In April ASX listed telecommunications carrier PIPE Networks (ASX:PWK) made an investment in Vocus, which has also signed a three-year international capacity agreement with Southern Cross Cables. The start up expects to launch Internet and International Ethernet services by July this year.
Brooks has been involved in the telco industry for 12 years. Most recently, he spent five years in a consulting role for corporate, regulators and government business. He has held positions with Global Once, eCOM, Consultel BWP and TransACT Communications.
