QNAP TS209 Pro

QNAP's TS-209 Pro Turbo Station is an all-in-one network attached storage (NAS) server aimed at the SMB market. It sports gigabit Ethernet for fast network transfers backed by a 500MHz CPU and 128MB DDR II RAM. The TS-209 Pro accommodates two 3.5-inch hard drive bays for storage of up to 2TB and supports Windows active directory service. These built-in features boost file sharing speeds and flexibility in data access, the vendor claims. Its NetBak replicator backup software allows users to select auto-sync, instant, or schedule backup modes to backup the data on multiple PCs. Encrypted remote replication and disaster recovery features with RAID 1 disk mirroring further ensure data protection. The TS209 Pro also has a secure FTP server function that enables data transfer and sharing over SSL/TLS (explicit) encryption. The server can be accessed remotely through SSH connection and browser-based SSL login and supports file sharing across Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix.

Linksys One Wireless-G Services Router

The Linksys One Wireless-G Services Router is the foundation of the Linksys One customer premises portfolio. Supporting connections to the Internet via DSL, cable or T1/E1 and services include SPI Firewall, SIP Proxy, QoS, VLAN, SIP ALG and IEEE POE. The router also provides auto-discovery and auto-configuration to other Linksys One devices in the portfolio - including Web cams and telephony gateways. It features cascaded expansion to other Linksys One Ready or traditional Ethernet Switches, Network Storage Systems and application servers. The Wireless-G Services Router gives users integrated ADSL2/2+ and 10/100 Ethernet WAN, and because it integrates with an 802.11g access point, it provides the network infrastructure solution for remote SOHO teleworkers or small offices. Other features include integrated broadband access interfaces, Power over Ethernet, and a SPI Firewall with hardware-accelerated VPN services.
Distributed by Express Data, Ingram Micro, LAN Systems and Multimedia Technology
RRP:$1229.95

Siemens HiPAth Wireless Controller

Each controller can manage 200 wireless access points, either HiPath or other 802.11-based brands, remotely or within the WLAN, and you can connect via Siemens' advanced OptiPoint WL2 Professional handsets (pictured). Layer 3 'overlay' architecture means the controller can be anywhere on the network. Included convergence software offers feature updates, security and access control, centralised auto-configuration and software loading, logging and tracing. Siemens promises no more dropped voice-over-WLAN calls while roaming and transparent user hand-off. Up to 50 virtual LANs can be created and managed using Siemens' Virtual Network Services. The HiPath Wireless Controller supports comprehensive access authentication, encryption and intrusion detection capabilities.
Distributed by IPL Communications
RRP: C2400 controller with 10 internal access points and 50 WL2 handsets - $65,000

Ericsson W25 3G Wireless Terminal

This voice and data solution is designed for home or small office users on the 3G network. If users are unable to get onto the Internet via a landline, the W25 unit can connect online using mobile networks. The W25 operates by mains power, connects to a landline telephone or PC, and houses a 3G SIM card from any 3G network. If access to a 3G network is not possible, the W25 can also operate using GSM. The SIM card ensures all calls are sent over the mobile network so users making a high number of landline to mobile calls are charged at mobile to mobile rates. The W25 hooks up to the computer via its four-ports or using Wi-Fi and is also capable of IP faxing.
Distributed byPowertec Telecommunications.
RRP:$999

ProCurve 3500

The ProCurve 3500 is an enterprise class stackable gigabit Ethernet switch. Offering either 24 or 48 Power over Ethernet ports with 10/100/1000 connectivity, the 3500 also supports up to four 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Based on the high performance ProVision chipset, this stackable switch shares the hardware architecture as the ProCurve 5400 and 8200 chassis switches. In addition to offering layer 3 routing functionality, the ProCurve 3500 includes advanced network monitoring capabilities via ProCurve's extended remote monitoring (XRMON) technology, remote network monitoring (RMON) and sFlow v5. Web-based management tools are included, as well as the ability to upgrade the switch to IPv6 routing. Security features include automatic worm and virus throttling, ICMP throttling, and automatic protection against denial of service attacks that attempt to target the switch itself. Network access control features allow authentication of users before they are granted network access and several flexible user authentication technologies are available, such as the ability to simultaneously use 802.1x and Web-based user authentication methods on any port.
Distributed by Ingram Micro and Uptime Distribution.
RRP: $6630

D-Link DGS-1005D

D-Link claims its DGS-1005D is the first green Ethernet switch technology on the market. The switch is designed to reduce power consumption and create less heat while extending product life. According to D-link, it is able to save 85.6 per cent of power consumed for each system when connected to switched off PCs and 9.3 per cent of power consumed for Ethernet cables less than 20m long. The switch complies with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives. The five-port 10/100/1000Mbps gigabit switch aims at delivering power, performance, and reliability in one cost-effective, space-saving design, according to D-Link.
Distributed by BJE Enterprises, Bluechip Infotech, EDsys Computers, Ingram Micro, Lan 1, Pacific Datacom, Page Data Products and Synnex.
RRP: five-port gigabit switch - $89.95; eight-port - $139.95
