WA-based service integrator, ASG Group, has secured a $5 million contract with the WA Department of Education and Training.
The ASX-listed (ASX:ASZ) integrator had been an incumbent supplier for the department providing administrative applications, according to ASG chief officer for sales and strategic operations, Murray Rosa. It has previously supplied HR, payroll and financial services.
"They were now looking to procure new equipment to run those applications, which run on Sun gear," he said. "When the tender came out there were a number of suppliers, but given that we know the applications and understand their requirements, we were selected as the successful player.
"This further strengthens the relationship we have with the Department of Education and positions us to continue providing services."
The two-year deal will see ASG deliver, supply and install Sun hardware, software and associated services. The customer previously had outdated Sun gear, which Rosa said would take up to six months to replace.
"This clearly demonstrates to the market that we're a strong Sun reseller and we can deliver those sorts of services," he said.
Rosa said the department was also looking for ongoing support of all applications running on Sun equipment, which will be subject to a separate tender process.
