Outsourcing giant, CSC, has extended its datacentre contract with the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
The company has held the contract since 1998 and was last renewed from 2007-2009 with the option to extend for a further two years.
"The contract will be up for renewal next in 2011," CSC vice-president of public sector, Matthew Day, said. "DIAC would be one of our top five customers and we've invested a lot at both a consulting and infrastructure level. There are a lot of opportunities in this space and we expect to grow significantly in the near to mid-term."
Under the contract, CSC provides DIAC with border critical infrastructure services across over 500 physical and virtual servers based on AIX, Solaris and Wintel platforms. CSC also provides DIAC with two production mainframes undertaking approximately 1900 million instructions per second, as well as a disaster recovery mainframe capability.
Day said there were opportunities to work further with DIAC.
"Under the framework there are plenty of project services and application support opportunities for us," he said.
CSC works with a number of other local government agencies, including the department of defence, Centrelink, the taxation office and state government agencies.
