Found in 1988. Westan opened its doors as a distributor of Western Digital Hard Disk Drives in Victoria. Since then, Westan has grown to include sales and warehousing sites in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and distributes a diverse portfolio of products in the fields of IT, AV, Converged Communications and Storage.
Westan has always had a service-based culture and leverages on technology to remain competitive. Fully integrated and national Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and websites, in depth Customer Resource Management software and VoIP phone systems ensure our customer information and history is ready and at the fingertips of our team, ensuring our customers are not treated as numbers. Westan has always been a key provider in emerging technologies and will continue to invest in, and develop solutions for vertical and emerging markets.

Core Competencies: Westan areas of specialization; IT & CE distribution, Storage Solutions, Voice Communications and Business Communications. IT distribution is Westan’s longest specialization. Starting with Western Digital in 1989, Westan has broadened is range to take on best-of-breed vendors in all segments of the IT market. Westan also provides competitive contract manufacturing of computer systems and storage solutions and currently supplies a range of partners in the education, retail and corporate sectors. In 2001 Westan diversified its portfolio to include Intel Dialogic Communications equipment and solidified its offerings in storage solutions. Today Westan still distributes Diaogic communications equipment and continues to provide VoIP PBX gateways based around hybrid Circuit-switch/IP and pure IP solutions. Westan has diversified its storage portfolio to include Tandberg and Promise Technology. Westan specializes in S-ATA and SAS storage solutions and can provide terabytes of storage in cost effective small footprints and also provide backup libraries and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) systems to suit most requirements. In 2003 Westan further broadened its portfolio through the acquisition of an AV products distributor. Today, Westan distributes AV products from Samsung, BenQ, Optoma, Whatmough loudspeakers, Lars & Ivan and Usher Audio loudspeakers. In 2007 Westan acquired Doro Australia, effectively expanding its range and offering into the national-retailer market and adding the phone distributor’s range to its core stock.

Market Differentiator: Westan has enterprise Voice-Over-IP telecommunications solutions, High definition and Video Conferencing. In 2008, Westan will add Business Applications and services in the area of security, CCTV and e-Learning. Westan will continue to solidify its AV product portfolio in order to remain the leader in providing its channel with new and exciting technologies in the converging field of AV and IT. In the IT distribution field Westan provides competitive pricing and knowledgeable advice on the products it distributes. A large percentage of our sales team has IT-related backgrounds and qualifications in order to provide the best advice possible. As data storage requirements around the world grow exponentially, Westan continues to offer competitively priced disk arrays and back-up solutions for most applications. Channel Programs: Westan works closely with our channel in order to develop suitable VoIP and storage systems and also provides all necessary training in these fields, including deployment assistance of required. Westan also conducts lead generation exercises, such as print advertising on behalf of resellers of our exclusive products. We work closely with its vendors in order to secure any marketing assistance for our resellers where applicable.
