I have a Inspiron 1300 Dell Laptop that is just over a year old and rarely used. My original power adapter died on me so I bought a replacement universal adapter. It's a Targus model # ac70u adapter. It works fine for powering the computer up but the battery on my laptop does not charge. The little icon comes up on the bottom right corner saying it is charging but it never goes above 0%. Once I disconnect the power cord the computer shuts off so I know the battery is not getting any juice. Would this most likely be caused because it's not the origonal power cord or maybe just a dead battery? Anyone have any ideas?
