Eisa shuts up Shop.com.au

Internet service provider Eisa has quietly closed down its computer retail initiative, Shop.com.au, "indefinitely".

According to Shop.com.au's web content manager, Matt McEwen, the site, which was run by Eisa's e-commerce division, was taken down on Tuesday last week when Eisa management commenced its re-assessment of the site's "focus" and "target market".

Shop.com.au sold computer hardware and software, as well as small gifts such as flowers and cigars, McEwen said.

He was unable to provide revenue figures for the site's performance since launching a year ago, but he maintained the site had "performed well".

McEwen was unable to predict when, if ever, the site would return.

Eisa, which is a publicly listed company, did not submit a statement to the ASX explaining to shareholders its decision to shut the site down.
