Renewable energy company, Hydro Tasmani,a has outsourced its whole IT environment to technology consulting and integration firm, LogicaCMG, under a multimillion-dollar, three-year agreement.
Building on an existing relationship with LogicaCMG, the new outsourcing deal was driven by Hydro Tasmania spinning off from its former parent company, the Tasmanian Hydro Electric Corporation, LogicaCMG officials said.
Under the new deal, LogicaCMG will be responsible for supplying a wide range of support services, such as helpdesk, desktop, LAN/WAN, Unix and NT server support, application support, consulting, and project management services, which are non-core business functions at Hydro Tasmania.
LogicaCMG will provide those outsourced services to Hydro Tasmania's Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide sites.
The use of LogicaCMG's breadth of IT services will let Hydro Tasmania focus on its core business of hydro electric power supply to Tasmania, Hydro Tasmania's general manager corporate, Lance Balcombe, said.
"LogicaCMG's expertise in energy and utilities means we can improve our competitiveness in readiness for the challenge of our entry into the national electricity market," he said.

I'm all for any company who is using renewable energy and creating it. I've recently installed double glazed windows in my home to help keep from having to run the air conditioner as much in the summer and in the winter i heat it less as it doesnt escape.
