Data centre value-added distributor and Exclusive Networks arm, BigTec Pacific, has bolstered its portfolio by inking a distribution deal with broadband and hybrid wide area network (WAN) vendor, Silver Peak.
Terms of the local partnership will enable BigTec Pacific to distribute Silver Peak’s Unity EdgeConnect Software-Defined (SD)-WAN solutions across the Australia and New Zealand markets.
The move comes not long after BigTec’s recent sign of its first major networking vendor, Juniper Networks.
The division also has a partnership with backup and disaster recovery vendor, Rubrik, and its foundation vendor, Nutanix.
BigTec Pacific managing director, Dominic Whitehand, previously said that the BigTec Pacific business unit is increasingly focused on resellers operating within the hybrid cloud and software-defined infrastructure markets across Australia.
Whitehand also said that its vendor alliances are in line with company plans to push into the next-generation data centre space.
BigTec Pacific and Exclusive Networks sales director, Jonathan Odria, echoed Whitehand’s comments, outlining that the Silver Peak portfolio fits into its next-generation data centre push.
“The very purpose of our BigTec business is to help local reseller partners take full advantage of infrastructure opportunities that facilitate the new breed of web-scale applications and address the necessities of dynamic scaling, orchestration and management within a next generation software-defined data centre (SDDC)," he said.
"Silver Peak’s SD-WAN solutions are an important part of, and fit perfectly into, that environment."
Odria said BigTec Pacific will be targeting distributed enterprise customers on both sides of the Tasman with these SD-WAN solutions.
"We look forward to partnering with Silver Peak to expand its go-to-market initiatives and SD-WAN footprint across A/NZ," he added.
"We are confident that our new distribution agreement will ensure the success that such market-disruptive technology merits."
Silver Peak A/NZ sales director, Graham Schultz, said the partnership addresses the escalating demand for high-performance SD-WAN solutions within the local region, alluding to Gartner findings which predict that by the end of 2019, 30 per cent of enterprises will use SD-WAN products in all their branches, up from less than one per cent today.

Silver Peak also recently launched its new global partner program, specifically designed to attract, educate and enable value-added channel partners such as Exclusive Networks to capitalise on burgeoning SD-WAN market opportunities.
