Spirit Telecom has strengthened its executive team with the appointment of Matthew Hobbs as chief operating officer (COO).
Hobbs will replace Russell Mitchell as COO, who has transitioned Spirit from a private company to publicly listed operation, and will now take on the company;s newly developed role of general manager Market Development.
Spirit managing director, Geoff Neate, said Hobbs “brings a wealth of experience” to Spirit, in understanding the growth requirements that align with the company’s ambitions going forward.
“Russell moves into creating a new revenue generating segment, which will assist in Spirit’s growth,” Neate added.
Hobbs has over 20 years in the telecommunications sector most notably in 2007, after selling his company to M2, he joined the M2 executive team as CIO, leading a national team of over 120 staff and managing departmental budgets in access of $25 million per year.
During his time at M2, Hobbs played a key role in the acquisition and integration of 10 companies acquired by M2, which saw M2 grow from $34 million to over $500 million per year in four years.
