Cherri International snags ACDSee distribution deal

Adobe challenger selects Gold Coast reseller to facilitate A/NZ push

Gold Coast-based reseller, Cherri International, has been appointed distributor of creative professional software vendor, ACDSee.

The Canadian-based company develops software which competes directly with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and others.

Cherri International proprietor, Mark Wren, is also an Adobe partner and said the new agreement would not affect his existing business or relationship with the software company.

“I have been helping Adobe with its software testing for over 20 years so I know the products very well but the cost of the Adobe software has been creeping up for a number of years now,” he added.

He said the benefit of the ACDSee software by comparison was not only price but the ability to purchase perpetual licenses (which Adobe has moved away from in recent times) as well as subscriptions and educational packages.

“Credit where credit is due, the Adobe perpetual software is great but is is only a tiny segment of what they do now.”

Wren went on to say that the ACDSee software was not a direct replacement for the entire Adobe suite but the vendor did have some great competing products for some of Adobe’s most popular programs.

He also praised the back-end support and services provided by the Canadian software developer, describing it as excellent.

“I am not trying to take anything away from Adobe. I am the only fully certified Adobe partner on the Gold Coast and the Tweed so it is still a big part of my business. This is just a really nice option to be able to offer people and it is so user friendly at the same time."
