Hewlett Packard Enterprise targets service providers with improved infrastructure portfolio

“Service providers are looking for the operational agility and faster data centre integration..."

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has launched its open, cloud-optimised storage server, as the tech giant aims to become the only top-tier vendor to offer a complete open infrastructure portfolio with compute, networking and now storage server offerings.

According to 451 Research, traditional hosting and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) will grow from a $US60 billion market in 2015 into a $US70 billion market in 2016, and is set to double in size by 2019.

As such, organisations are moving workloads from traditional shared, virtualised and dedicated infrastructure products to increasingly specialised infrastructure and application environments, including IaaS and Software as a Service.

In turn, service provider implementation of managed services and alternative technology solutions, including OpenStack, are seen as potential points of differentiation.

“Service providers are looking for the operational agility and faster data centre integration that comes with deploying open infrastructures, while others value the integrated management and proven deployment capabilities that come with industry-standard offerings,” says Reaz Rasul, Vice President and General Manager, Global Hyperscale Business, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

“Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the only vendor that offers a choice of standard or open infrastructure solutions to accelerate business growth and provide service providers with the flexibility required to scale rapidly and cost-effectively.”

Rasul says the desire for rapid growth and the need for agility is encouraging service providers to explore open infrastructure as an option for building and managing cloud-scale data centres.

“These new technologies, which are built on open standards, bring economies of scale to data centres by enabling service providers to reduce operational costs, enhance efficiency and quickly adapt to changing business demands,” Rasul adds.

In launching HPE Cloudline, HPE Altoline, HPE Helion Content Depot solution and HPE Datacenter Care for Hyper-scale, Rasul says Hewlett Packard Enterprise aims to bolster its offerings across cloud storage, networking and data centre for service providers.

Delving deeper, Rasul says the vendor offers a set of programs and services tailored to the specific needs of service providers, including: HPE Datacenter Care Services for Hyperscale; HPE Service Provider Ready Solutions, including the latest HPE Cloud Backup Service Ready Solution; and HPE Partner Ready Program for service providers.

“Hewlett Packard Enterprise is committed to providing flexible, right-size programs and services that empower service providers to grow their business,” Rasul adds.
