Lenovo has named Margrith Appleby as its new A/NZ channel director role. Appleby replaces Fred Viet, who recently departed the company at the end of February this year to take on a role at Microsoft to head up its Surface commercial channel in A/NZ.
The announcement also comes on the back of two recent partnerships for Lenovo with Nutanix and DataCore.
Appleby joins Lenovo from HP, where she served as its printing and personal systems commercial channel sales director for almost three years.
In this role, Appleby will be responsible for all aspects of Lenovo’s channel strategy, driving sales growth, developing its sales channel and strengthening its partner offering. Lenovo works closely with an extensive line-up of channel partners in the region, which Appleby and her team will focus on.
“We are thrilled to welcome Margrith to the Lenovo team. Our Channel partners are crucial to our business and with Margrith’s extensive knowledge and established channel relationships she will be a valuable asset to our team,” Lenovo A/NZ managing director, Matt Codrington, said.
Codrington said Appleby is vital to the company's end-to-end strategy.
"Today, in excess of 90 per cent of our business goes through the channel and that's including our large enterprise customers. Margrith will also be in charge of growing our business in the SMB space, which Lenovo has made great inroads into over the past two years.
"And as we consider what our partners want in terms of programs around the offerings we have, how we go to market with them, the simplicity of interactions with us, Margrith will be responsible for making sure we got the right routes, tools, and enablement for these," he added.
Codrington also highlighted some key areas for the company as it moves into the year. Making it easy to do business with Lenovo, creating opportunities from its wide range of products, and growing its enterprise business are some he mentioned.
"Margrith comes to us with great experience and we're ushering in a new era with our new channel strategy and this will accelerate our momentum. She has also get extensive partner relationships and that's crucial to our business," he added.
Appleby brings more than 30 years of IT experience to the role.
She has also worked at HP in a range of other roles, including as its personal systems group enterprise sales director for three years, its personal systems group sales manager for more than four years, and as its enterprise business unit account executive for more than two years.
Prior to HP, Appleby worked at Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq as its business development manager and sales administration roles for more than 18 years.
