SugarCRM acquires Contastic NLP technology

Company will use technology to analyse data within the Sugar platform so users can send personalised content

SugarCRM has acquired the intellectual property rights of Contastic, a natural language processing (NLP) platform designed to automatically recommend valuable content for users to send to their contacts.

Following the acquisition, Contastic chief executive, Cy Khormaee joined SugarCRM as director of product management for predictive analytics. The new role finds Khormaee responsible for building technology into Sugar that will turn customer data into actionable recommendations for users.

The company acquired the assets of Stitch, a developer of personal assistant technologies, in March 2015 and SugarCRM said the integration of Stitch Hot House Labs technology enhanced Sugar to be a smarter CRM system and allowed remote access to information for mobile users.

SugarCRM chief executive, Larry Augustin, said the acquisitions are examples of the company making strategic investments in technologies to make Sugar an indispensable tool that will help customer-facing individuals to be more successful.
