Enterprise security company, Blue Coat Systems, has named Nick Noviello as its new chief financial officer. Noviello joins Blue Coat Systems from NetApp, where he served as the company’s chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance and operations.

The company said former Blue Coat chief financial officer, Gregg Hampton, will continue to play a strategic role as senior vice-president of business operations and will assist Noviello in the transition.

Noviello will report directly to Blue Coat CEO, Greg Clark, and will be responsible for leading the company’s finance, IT, human resources, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

Clark said Noviello brings a wealth of financial leadership experience in large public companies and is an extraordinary fit for Blue Coat and the company’s aggressive plans for the future.

“Nick’s financial leadership experience in large public companies will be invaluable to us. His experience across both technology and the traditional industries of our customers makes him an extraordinary fit for Blue Coat today and our aggressive plans for the future.

“I have no doubt that he is going to have a significant and immediate impact on the company, as well as serve the strategic long-term objectives of our investors,” he said.

Noviello has more than 20 years of leadership experience in financial and operational roles.

At NetApp, which he joined in 2008, and was chief financial officer for the last four years, he led a finance and operations team of more than 1500 professionals with a focus on financial and operational excellence, strategic financial planning, capital structure, capital allocation, tax, treasury, enterprise risk management and investor relations.

Prior to joining NetApp, Noviello spent eight years at Honeywell International, where he held operating business unit chief financial officer roles, ran investor relations, and was a leader on the corporate mergers and acquisitions team.

“I can’t think of a more thrilling time to be joining Blue Coat.

“As the security industry continues to grow, Blue Coat has shown exceptional vision and strategic foresight in its expansion to become a clear leader in the growing Cloud security market, while continuing strong execution in serving its more than 15,000 global customers,” Noviello added.
