The Queensland Government’s recent $76 million cash injection into nurturing the state’s entrepreneurs and technology sector has led to an increase in investors finding more opportunity in the app space, according to Gold Coast specialist investment firm, AMMA App Investments.

AMMA App Investments general manager, Adam Courtney said investors were moving away from traditional sectors such as banking and mining and seeking viable investment opportunities, like the app space, that embraced the state’s changing commercial landscape.

He claimed the government’s recent Business Investment Attraction grant, which aims to foster business innovation in the technology sector and turn ideas into commercial reality, has prompted more investors to put their monies into mobile and tablet software applications.

“The app space is one of the fastest growing areas in the technology sector and provides a great investment vehicle for savvy investors,” he said.

“It’s quite easy to develop and take an app to market. Creating sustainable profitability and investor liquidity is the challenging part, which is why we urge investors and app developers to partner with a proven investment manager.”

Courtney mentioned the company had seen a tremendous return on applications in the enterprise division as enterprise applications traditionally provide businesses with solutions to complex issues, adding measureable value to an organisations business through technological developments.

“It’s a very powerful proposition to be able to offer increases in productivity and cost benefits associated with Cloud based platforms,” he said.

As an example, he also highlighted one of AMMA Apps’ most successful secured investments, an app called The Modern Practice Portal by HubOne, which integrates Xero Accounting Software, WorkFlow Max and Microsoft Office 365.

“AMMA App Investments was able to raise funds to commercialise the HubOne software which has now fundamentally changed the landscape of accounting firms worldwide via its subscription model for practice and document management,” he added.
