Rhipe inks IBM Cloud infrastructure partnership

ASX-listed software licensing distributor, Rhipe (ASX:RHP), has landed a new contract to resell IBM Cloud infrastructure from SoftLayer.

As a result, it will be reselling IBM Cloud services through its partner network across seven countries in the Asia Pacific region including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

Through the SoftLayer infrastructure, IBM Cloud provides a range of bare metal and virtual Cloud servers, networking and storage services.

“Our ecosystem is growing across South East Asia, and this agreement helps our partners deliver services through the Cloud,” Rhipe CSO, Chris Sharp, said. “This will help our partners extend their services on a cost-effective, pay-as-you-use basis and will also protect our partner’s investment in software services. It will enable our existing vendor partners to have another platform for delivery of their services.”

In its full year results, Rhipe’s group revenue rose 46 per cent to $108.8 million and group earnings prior to growth investments, non-cash share based payments, non-recurring due diligence costs and one off costs was $4.9 million, up 47 per cent on the same period last year.

Licensing revenue was up 41 per cent to $105.1 million.

In the 12 months to June 30, Rhipe invested in transitioning its operations from a pure private Cloud licensing business to a ‘whole of Cloud’ wholesaler with integrated divisions focusing on Cloud licensing - private, public and hybrid; Cloud solutions- services and support and Cloud operations - billing, provisioning and marketing.

The acquisition of nSynergy in December 2014, paved the way to form its Solutions business unit and represent Microsoft as a wholesaler of its public Cloud offerings. In also made an investment in Cloud software company, LiveTiles and gained exclusive distribution rights in Asia Pacific.

In April, Rhipe scored a spot on Microsoft’s two-tier Cloud Solutions Program (CSP), allowing it to wholesale Microsoft’s public Cloud offerings such as Office365, Azure and Enterprise Mobility Suite.

Rhipe’s key vendor relationships include Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Datacore, Intel Security, Red Hat, Trend Micro, Veeam, Zimbra, LiveTiles and SkyKick.

Rhipe’s partner base stretches to more than 1600, made up of managed service providers, independent software vendors and system integrators.
