Microsoft has announced several updates to its Cloud platform product portfolio. The vendor said, in a statement, that the solutions are designed to help enterprise adapt to the Cloud.
Updates announced include the general availability of Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
Cloud-based data integration service, ADF, has new features such as a Visual Studio plug-in for authoring and deployment, improved data lineage network visualisation and connectors for several common on-premises and Cloud data stores.
“Businesses can enjoy the benefits of using a fully managed Cloud service without procuring hardware; reduce costs with automatic Cloud resource management, efficiently move data using a globally deployed data transfer infrastructure, and easily monitor and manage complex schedule and data dependencies,” Microsoft corporate vice-president of information management and machine Learning, Joseph Sirosh said.
As part of the vendor’s identity and access management solutions, Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 also has general availability.
The software bridges on-premises identity with the Cloud and has new user self-service capabilities with enhanced security, according to the the vendor.
Updates to SQL Server 2016 Community Technical Preview 2.2. has seen enhancements to security policies, Master Data Services and SQL Server Reporting Services, and Microsoft has announced general availability of content packs for SQL Sentry and Circuit ID.
The added content packs enable users to monitor the SQL Server deployments they track using the SQL Sentry Cloud. It said subscribers to these supported services can now quickly connect to their account from Power BI and see their data through live dashboards and interactive reports that have been pre-built for them.
Another update to the vendor’s Cloud platform includes the release of the Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2015 RTM from Microsoft’s on-premise application lifecycle management (ALM) toolset.
The release includes features such as previews of new build automation systems, updated Cloud-based load tests and browser-based code editing; the ability to make edits to a file in version control directly from a web browser.
Additionally, manipulations to the Kanban board have been made, allowing for new capabilities such as filtering, adding or editing the board and reordering items.
Microsoft has also introduced Jupyter Notebooks for Azure ML Studio Public Preview, an enterprise-grade hosted Project Jupyter service and integration in Azure Machine Learning.
It claimed the Notebook provides a capable interface for quickly running code and visualising data.
An additional announcement from the vendor included the Analytics Platform System Appliance Update 4 release to manufacturing. Appliance Update 4 offers next generation performance, greater T-SQL compatibility and support for Cloudera 5.1 and Hortonworks Data Platform 2.1 and 2.2.
The vendor has also announced the general availability of Azure Premium Storage.
