Westcon launches Cloud Solutions marketplace in Australia

Westcon Group has launched Westcon Cloud Solutions – a catalogue of vendor Cloud solutions that will be distributed via its digital distribution and integrated billing platform, BlueSky. Westcon acquired BlueSky through its recent buyout of its parent company, Verecloud.

What Westcon Cloud Solutions does, is enable customers to purchase Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings through Westcon-approved resellers.

The Westcon Cloud Catalogue includes Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco, Cloud DC, Face Me, Purple Wifi, Symantec and Virsae.

Westcon said, in a statement, that for resellers, Westcon Cloud Solutions eliminates the business challenges of delivering Cloud services to customers.

It claimed that its channel-centric Cloud platform leverages analytics to provide a self-service portal for resellers. In addition, real-time analytics gives them the opportunity to respond to changing market demands at any given time.

It also indicated with this new marketplace, reseller partners can view which services are the most popular, which services are improving their profit, which vendors are bringing in the most revenue and how their overall Cloud business is faring in real-time.

“It’s basically an aggregation platform for Cloud services that allows resellers to purchase Cloud services off us through an automated portal. On top of that, we also offer analytics services around what customers are buying, along with a number of other services as well,” Westcon Group A/NZ managing director, Dave Rosenberg, told ARN.

Rosenberg claimed Cloud distribution is one of the company’s five strategic priorities. The other four consist of partner enablement, efficiency, solution portfolio, and global services.

“It’s part of our strategy moving forward. Cloud or anything as a service is a growth part in the way customers want to purchase. They want that flexibility and a consumption based model so as a value-added distributor, it’s important for us to provide solutions which our resellers can take to their customer base.

“We had it running in New Zealand for the past 24 months and Australia was the next market off the block. We’ll be looking to progressively roll it out across the world,” Rosenberg said.

The company’s Asia-Pacific Cloud and services director, Darryl Grauman, said Westcon Cloud Solutions aims to simplify Cloud services for resellers and customers and that digital distribution is the next logical step in the channel evolution.

“This offering marks Westcon Group’s entry into the digital distribution space in a way that lets channel partners achieve significant benefits from Cloud services. It provides a scalable and integrated billing platform for resellers with no upfront investment.

“The Cloud Marketplace can be white-labelled, so resellers can provide branded shop fronts to their customers. Westcon Group will support channel partners through enablement and marketing services, helping resellers engage, develop, grow and extend their businesses through Cloud services,” he stated.

Rosenberg added that Cloud is an investment strategy for Westcon and due to its annuity based nature, he expects the revenue from it to grow exponentially, but have a slow take-up rate initially.
