ASG scores $18 million Cloud deal with Communications Department

Aims to establish the department as an 'exemplar' of Cloud services across the Commonwealth

ASX-listed ASG Group (ASX:ASZ) has landed a five-year Cloud contract with the Federal Department of Communications worth $18 million.

The department will be leading the charge on Cloud computing within the government sector, adopting ASG’s Secure Government Cloud Platform.

According to ASG, this contract will establish the department as an ‘exemplar’ across the Commonwealth in adopting Cloud-based services.

“This is an example of this department being a leader in innovation by being the first to adopt this technology. Moving our ICT infrastructure into the secure Cloud will result in many efficiencies for this department,” the department’s Secretary, Drew Clarke, said.

ASG general manager for Federal Government, Wayne Gowland, said the arrangement was a significant step for the government in adopting a flexible and sustainable ICT provisioning model.

“The current model of owning, upgrading, refreshing hardware and software across individual government agencies is expensive and inefficient. This arrangement will provide the department with significant cost and operational benefits and flexibility," Gowland said.

The arrangement builds on ASG’s contract wins with the Tax Practitioners Board, Australian Transport and Safety Bureau, Australian Maritime Safety Authority and Department of Defence.
