Officeworks implements MDM platform

Creates a central location to help manage product information across its business from the shop front to its website

Office supplies and stationery retailer, Officeworks, has implemented Stibo Systems’ master data management (MDM) platform to help manage product information across all its sales channels.

The system gives Officeworks a single repository of information across the 20,000 products it sells covering its retail stores, POS system, online web properties, mobile commerce applications, catalogue, direct mail, call centre, social media and B2B sales channels.

The retailer faced a challenge in aggregating and managing data across the breadth of the suppliers they work with and the sales channels they fill to provide top information to customers.

The MDM solution provides data governance, policies and integrations to the Officeworks ERP, WebSphere eCommerce and Salesforce systems. Data collection from external parties will be implemented in a second phase this year.

Once fully implemented the system will also allow Officeworks to create, maintain and remove products across its enterprise and supplier network. It will also improve data quality and consistency.
