Dell has built up on its networking solutions by unveiling a new set of managed switches. It’s also expanded on one of its current offerings that aim to specifically meet the needs of SMBs.

This enhanced networking portfolio introduces the new X-Series family of smart-managed 1GbE and 10GbE switches, as well as the expansion of the N-Series family with the addition of the Dell N1500.

What the new X-Series family of smart-managed switches does is enable SMB customers to enjoy advanced network management without requiring professional IT support. It can be achieved through features such as intuitive work flow management, traffic visibility and real-time control of Cloud optimisation and onsite network applications.

As for the Dell Networking N1500, it is a fully managed 1GbE switch optimised for smaller networks. It utilises an enterprise-class Layer 2/3 feature set, common command-line interface (CLI), and standard 10GbE SFP+ transceivers and cables for stacking. As such, SMBs can aim to deploy a secure network optimised for VoIP and social environments.

Dell’s also extended support for its W-series family of wireless access points and controllers, reiterating its committed support for the series.

According to the company, the move was made to provide SMBs with a competitive edge and the ability to grow their networks at a flexible and affordable rate. This is a result of IT departments of all sizes looking to create a network infrastructure that is able to manage a new generation of computing and workload processing but are often constrained by limited resources.

Dell Networking strategy and product management vice-president, Arpit Joshipura, said distributed, global workforces have given rise to increased mobile and Cloud computing. This, combined with the rise in data analytics, has caused businesses to experience a data deluge.

“Today’s announcement is another example of our commitment to enable customers to break free of outdated networking paradigms,” he added.

Dell’s Networking X-Series is available for order, while the Dell Networking N1500 will most likely make it to our shores in Q2 this year.
