Globalgig expands 4G services in Australia and UK

The post-paid, month-to-month plans are called 4G Flexi, Go Europe & USA and Go Global

Globalgig has launched a new, high-speed 4G service in Australia and UK, expanding access to its mobile broadband network to 84 countries.

It is offering three post-paid, month-to-month plans with no lock-in contracts called 4G Flexi, Go Europe & USA and Go Global.

The 4G Flexi plan starts at $5 per month including 250MB of data. There are also options that include 1GB for $10, 3GB for $20, 5GB for $30 and 10GB for $50 per month.

The Go Europe & USA plan starts at $20 with 250MB of data included. For $30 customers can get 1GB, 3GB for $50 and 5GB for $70. It can be used in Australia and 37 ‘included’ countries. New Zealand and Hong Kong are additional countries available on this plan at 25 cents per MB.

The new Go Global plan is available for use in Australia and 69 ‘included’ countries. There are also 14 additional countries that can be accessed on Go Global for just an extra 25 cents per MB. This brings the total number of countries where Go Global can be used to 84.

Globalgig also uses a “tri-SIM” which gives access to all the new plans, has a global APN which means no more changing settings when travelling and makes it compatible with unlocked Wi-Fi devices, tablets, dongles and smartphones.

“We’ve come a long way from the company that just over two years ago offered mobile broadband in three countries. We’ve moved from 3G to 4G and from 3 countries to 40 countries last year and now 84 countries this year,” Globalgig general manager, James Broadman, said. “Our goal has always been to challenge the unfair pricing of certain telcos and mobile broadband providers and we continue to do just that. Our fundamentals have remained the same – low cost mobile broadband in Australia, low cost mobile broadband overseas, no lock-in contracts and no bill shock.”

Globalgig is available online and at 1400 retail outlets across Australia including Dick Smith, Harvey Norman, Coles, The Good Guys, Big W, Nuance Airport Duty Free Stores and Joyce Maine.

Globalgig was launched in December 2012 and is part of the Voiamo Group, which was founded in 2007 by its CEO and mobile veteran, Nigel Bramwell.
