Security software vendor, ESET, has appointed Microbe as its major Australian distributor.
The appointment follows Microbe's acquisition of Pro1 Security Solutions, a previous reseller of ESET's products, to support the distributor’s push into the business market.
According to a company statement, the purchase of Pro1 Security Solutions signals a shift in focus for Microbe, which was traditionally focused on the consumer market, and now aims to serve the entire consumer and business antivirus market.
Pro1's client base gives Microbe an easy entrance to distributing ESET's products.
ESET aims to achieve double-digit market share in Australia, and bringing on board the right channel partners is central to achieving this aim.
Microbe sales and marketing director, Mark Hay, said the company was looking for a new antivirus vendor, as it wanted to update its offering.
"ESET’s technology was the best solution in the market. We see huge potential for ESET in Australia, both for our resellers and for their customers," he said.
"We will continue to provide great incentives and systems to bring on new resellers during 2015."
Hay said the acquisition of Pro1 Security Solutions made good business sense.Read more: ESET continues aggressive Aussie partner push
"I want the teams to work together, to diversify Microbe’s market expertise from being purely consumer-focused to having a full service offering for anyone looking to buy antivirus in Australia,” he said.
ESET Australia managing director, Florin Vasile, said Microbe was dedicated to helping the company achieve its aims in the Australian market.
"We’ve been encouraged by the processes they’ve recently put in place to serve their antivirus customers and partners," he said.

“Microbe is a very well-oiled machine, and the team has a lot of experience in selling antivirus solutions. We fully expect this arrangement to strengthen our position and provide even greater results in the coming year.”
