LG sweetens G3 flagship with roll-out of Android Lollipop

Working with carriers to get the software out before March.

Underdog LG is rallying behind its flagship G3 with the roll-out of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Australian and New Zealand G3 owners will begin receiving update notifications as of 23 January. The roll-out will happen progressively until it is completed by the “end of February 2015”.

The Lollipop version of Android introduces a number of design tweaks, including the revamped ‘material design‘ user interface, improved notifications, optimised performance, and the ability to trust Bluetooth devices so that you don’t have to unlock the smartphone when it is connected.

Automated notifications will let G3 users know the Lollipop update is ready to be downloaded. LG recommends downloading the file over Wi-Fi as it is quicker and won’t chew through the smartphone’s data allowance.

Customers can check if there G3 is ready for the update manually. The process, according to LG’s official press release, is: faus Select ‘Apps’ icon
• Select ‘Settings’
• Select ‘General’ tab at the top of the screen
• Scroll down and select ‘About Phone’ menu option
• Select ‘Update Centre’
• Select ‘Soft’ware Updates’
From this menu the user can see and select the Lollipop software upgrade.

The LG G3, one of the most awarded smartphones of 2014, rated well in Good Gear Guide’s review and made our list of ‘The best smartphones of 2014’ feature.

Good Gear Guide has asked LG for the size of the download and will update this article when notified.
