Fox Sports Pulse digs data on 2.2 million A/NZ members

Deploys QlikView data analytics platform to improve sales performance

Fox Sports Pulse is using data analytics to extract value from the customer registration and purchase data of its 2.2 million members across Australia and New Zealand.

The grassroots sports network, which provides registrations, payments, websites, membership, and competition management at over 30,000 sporting clubs in Australia and New Zealand, has deployed data analytics solution, QlikView.

The solution offers faster data analysis and real-time collaboration across teams to reduce response times and act on new opportunities quickly, improving sales performance.

The organisation was keen to replace its spreadsheet-based reporting system, which was time-consuming and could not deliver the timely and strategic reporting, budgeting, and forecasting they needed to achieve their sales targets.

QlikView was deployed to various business teams including finance, sales, and marketing in just ten days.

Fox Sports Pulse was able to immediately analyse 1.5 million records to understand services that were performing well, and improve those that weren't.

They were also able to identify opportunities to sell or upsell services to customers.

Fox Sports Pulse general manager, Matthew Lalor, said sales opportunities had increased with the view of different data sets with the QlikView dashboard.

“For example, our sales team can see if a club is taking membership payments through our online payments gateway or whether they’re using another mode," he said.

"We can then create different scenarios to see how they might benefit from using our other services.”

It also uses QlikView for real-time collaboration among its employees, who are based in different parts of Australia.

With data easily accessible for analysis with QlikView, teams based in different cities are able to create 'what if' scenarios on the fly with each other, making collaboration and decision-making much more effective.

It is also exploring getting more data, such as website traffic statistics, into the platform for analysis.

Lalor said he had great confidence in deploying QlikView to more employees across the organisation.

"The adoption rate has been very strong and I’ve seen staff learning how to use a dashboard after a couple of 15-minute teleconferences," he said.

Qlik vice president and regional director A/NZ, Sharryn Millican, said the ability to not only gain faster insights into customer data but enable collaboration amongst different business units is a game-changer for any organisation.

“Fox Sports Pulse has empowered its users with direct access to data analysis and sharing, encouraging them to collaborate and identify new opportunities for the business. This has resulted in a direct and positive impact on their sales revenues and operations.”
