ASG clinches multi-million dollar Department of Defence deal

Datacentre consolidation project will create 50 new jobs at ASG

ASG has signed a multi-million eight-year deal, in partnership with Lockheed Martin Australia, to consolidate the Australian Department of Defence's datacentre operations.

According to a company statement, the deal is expected to make a $2 million contribution to earnings this financial year, with contribution in future years expected to be greater.

It will also create 50 new jobs at the company.

The deal will see ASG act as a sub-contractor to the Department of Defence's Centralised Processing Project.

The Centralised Processing Project will consolidate Defence's infrastructure and applications from within 280 datacentres to 11 domestically and three internationally, improving availability, reliability and security, while creating greater efficiencies, and simplifying service provisions.

The eight-year deal will see ASG deliver end-to-end management of all database services, working in partnership with Lockheed Martin Australia and other sub-contractor partners to consolidate Defence's datacentre and applications.

ASG chief executive, Geoff Lewis, said the project would involve substantial opportunities for ASG as we work to create a robust and secure information technology environment, improving the overall effectiveness and efficiency of data centre delivery in Defence," he said.

"In addition, there will be opportunities for further project work as the implementation progresses."

Lewis said the deal further solidified the company's sound position as Australia's leading provider of secure ICT services for the Federal Government.
