Avnet Technology Solutions and HP have ramped up their efforts to enable channel partners to accelerate growth in the adoption of software defined networking (SDN).
Avnet held its NetworkPath workshop last month in Sydney as part of the Avnet SolutionsPath program.
SolutionsPath is a global program that empowers channel partners to penetrate new market verticals and technology areas that have been targeted as growth opportunities.
The company developed the program to support high-growth HP partners who were focused on accelerating growth in their SDN business.
Fifteen business partners attended the HP-sponsored one-day session, which was designed for sales, pre-sales and solution architects.
Avnet vice-president and general manager A/NZ, Darren Adams, said the company was highly focused on training partners’ sales people to increase their selling skills, enabling them to compete in new growth markets with minimal investment to their own business.
HP Networking country manager, Raymond Maisano, said partners played a pivotal role in helping their customers unlock the new opportunities, efficiencies and capabilities that SDN could deliver to make them more competitive.
“The education and training Avnet has delivered on how HP Networking’s SDN solution transforms networks to become more application aware will be key in progressing these new market opportunities.”
Since 2007, HP Networking has provided organisations with open standards-based SDN solutions.
It now has 30 million Open-Flow ports in its customer base.
The HP VAN SDN Controller is one the most downloaded SDN controllers in the market, according to a company statement.
Avnet, northern region sales manager, Winston Wong, demonstrated the Avnet resources available to accelerate partners’ activity in this area, such as dedicated business development managers.
He told partners that Avnet SolutionsPath was not simply a training session, but a holistic approach to accelerating partner growth and driving market value on a continuing basis.
