Equinix launches performance hub in APAC

Wants to facilitate further datacentre growth in the region

Equinix announced the launch of its performance hub architecture in the Asia-Pacific region, which it believes will spur further market growth.

The performance hub serves as an extension of the private enterprise network into an Equinix international business exchange (IBX). The US-based datacentre company said it will enable enterprise to connect to network and Cloud service providers using their own infrastructure or off-the-shelf equipment.

Equinix senior director and APAC lead global enterprise and financial services, David Wilkinson, said following the launch of the system in the US in March, customer demand in APAC has been increasing.

“We are consistently hearing from APAC enterprises in the insurance, financial and legal industries, among others, that they are struggling to deal with the strain on application and network performance and how to provide a consistent quality of experience to their distributed workforce," he said.

“We’re thrilled to officially launch The Equinix Performance Hub in AP, which combines the strength of the networks and the Cloud to address these issues. By redefining their datacentre strategy to include performance hubs located closer to end users, enterprises can strategically leverage their datacentre to maximize network performance."

The firm said it developed the performance hub to address the needs of enterprises struggling to maintain the highest level of network performance and quality of service. Features of the service include datacentre hosting, network connectivity, equipment and Cloud connectivity.

The solution is currently available in Equinix data centres in the region. The firm is offering demo environments for proof-of-concept testing in Singapore and Sydney.
