Telstra nabs HTC One Max exclusive

Telstra will sell the 16GB model of the HTC One Max on consumer and business plans, as well as outright

Telstra is poised to be the sole stockist of the HTC One Max when the Android smartphone goes on sale from Tuesday, 26 November across the carrier's retail stores.

The telecommunications provider will have the smartphone available on a selection of consumer and business plans, with the base contract listed at $60 per month plus $14 monthly handset repayments over 24 months.

The outright RRP for the device is listed as $816, which suggests Telstra will only stock the 16GB variant despite a 32GB model being sold by the vendor itself.

Fortunately, the HTC One Max does have a removable back cover which hides the microSD card slot for further space. Additionally, HTC will offer One max users 50GB of additional free Google Drive online storage.

The HTC One Max is yet another instalment in the 'phablet' market category. It features a full HD, 1080p 5.9-inch display which results in a 10.3mm thickness and a weight of 217g.

The device operates on a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM, running the 4.3 Jelly Bean version of Android. Like HTC's other devices, the One Max is skinned with Sense UI, now up to version 5.5.

HTC has built the One Max with a 3300mAh battery. This cannot be removed, but the vendor will sell an optional Power Flip Case accessory which has an inbuilt 1150mAh battery.

The HTC One Max is currently available for pre-order, and customers who do so prior to its official launch date will receive a bonus Beats by Dre Pill portable speaker.
