Veeam Software records strong third quarter APAC growth

Veeam’s Australian business has seen 50 per cent year-on-year growth revenue bookings for the third quarter of 2013.

Veeam Software has recorded strong APAC growth in the third quarter as companies increasingly adopt virtualisation technologies.

The company, which provides, backup, replication and virtualisation management solutions for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, announced total revenue bookings growth of 46 per cent in the third quarter of 2013, while new licence revenue increased 49 per cent compared to the same period last year.

This marks the 29th consecutive quarter of revenue growth for the company across the APAC region. Veeam’s business in Australia has seen 50 per cent year-on-year growth in total revenue bookings for the third quarter of 2013.

New licence revenue grew 54 per cent compared with the same period in the third quarter 2012.

Demand for Veeam's solutions were largely driven by businesses that have realised the importance of being able to operate continuously and avoid service outages in an increasingly complex IT environment. During 2013, one of the key trends observed amongst Veeam customers was for backup and recovery strategies to reflect the assumption that organisational tolerance for downtime is non-existent.

There has also been an increased focus on the ability for organisations to implement data protection and recovery strategies that allow end-users to access business-critical services easily, despite an outage. Veeam Software regional director Don Williams said virtualisation had dramatically transformed the way in which businesses viewed data protection and business continuity.

"We find that there is a demand for innovative, data protection solutions across different cloud platforms and a need for more sophisticated methods of improving business continuity plans," he said. The company also raised the standard for Modern Data Protection with the recent release of Veeam Backup & Replication v7.

The enhanced features include built-in WAN acceleration and backup from Storage Snapshots, as well as seven market-changing features and more than 75 other new enhancements with regard to data protection. The company has witnessed rapid adoption of its virtualisation and cloud based services, bringing the total number of customers across APAC to over 5,000.

In Australia, Veeam now has 2,904 customers, acquiring 36 per cent more customers in the third quarter of 2013 compared to the same period last year.

Globally, it ended the third quarter of this year with more than 80,000 customers worldwide and 4 million virtual machines protected. In Australia, Veeam also reported rapid year-on-year growth in terms of the adoption of Veeam Backup Management Suite at 649 per cent, and Veeam Management Pack at 110 per cent. At the end of the third quarter Veeam had a total of 1,035 ProPartners in Australia and continues to expand its partnerships across APAC. Veeam also recently launched a new version of its flagship software.

The release introduced two disruptive innovations – built-in WAN Acceleration and backup from storage snapshots – as well as seven market-changing features and more than other new enhancements, improving data protection.

The company's growth in the third quarter of this year brings its APAC customer base to over 5000 and its global customer base to over 80,000.

It also increased number of ProPartners in APAC to 1,881 and expanded its worldwide partner base to more than 20,000 ProPartners.
