Enterprise embraces mobility at breakneck pace: Good Mobility Index

The latest Good Mobility Index report reveals a 60 per cent quarter-on-quarter increase in device activations

Businesses are adopting mobility at a staggering speed as the latest mobility index report reveals a 60 per cent increase in the number of devices activated.

The Good Mobility Index report for the second and third quarters this year has found total device activations for the quarter rose nearly 60 percent from the same time last year.

From a device standpoint, iOS continues to lead in device activations, but saw a slight drop of 3 per cent quarter-on-quarter, to 72 per cent in the third quarter.

Android saw an increase of 30 percent and 27 percent of total activations respectively, in Q2 and Q3.

iOS has was clearly the dominant platform among businesses for enterprise application deployment, with 98 per cent and 95 per cent of total app activations in Q2 and Q3.

However, Android enterprise application development is experiencing more significant growth, as the number of Android app activations nearly tripled quarter over quarter.

Good technology chief executive Christy Wyatt said platform diversity remained a key theme with the adoption of secure enterprise mobility.

The report also found tablets to be the most popular device for mobile app usage, with 81 per cent of applications in this form factor, while document editing emerged as the largest single commercial application category capturing 56 per of all activations.

The Manufacturing industry recorded a 32 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in share of iPad activations.

The report surveyed more than 5000 employees from bellwether companies across a range of industries.
