NBN rolled out in Darwin

Rollout ahead of expected date

Prime minister, Kevin Rudd, has helped roll out the National Broadband Network (NBN) for 2600 homes and businesses in Darwin, NT, ahead of the network plan to be officially switched on later this week.

The Federal Government said, in a statement, that fibre construction on the NBN has already begun to more than 25,000 homes and businesses in Darwin.

This includes in Bayview, Casuarina, Darwin City, East Point, Eaton, Fannie Bay, The Gardens, Larrakeyah, Ludmilla, The Narrows, Parap, Stuart Park, Alawa, Anula, Leanyer, Lyons, Malak, Marrara, Moil, Tiwi, Wagaman, Wanguri and Woolner.

It also expects the NBN to be fully rolled out across the NT region by the end of 2015.
