Acquia boosts local presence

Makes four new hires as its ramps up its local presence and Cloud offering

Open source software company, Acquia, has made some new hires to boost its local presence and Cloud offering.

David Peterson has joined as senior Drupal advisor. He has worked on many Drupal sites, including the ABC’s Hungry Beat and digital radio properties. He will be tasked with sharing his knowledge in the local Drupal community, offering training, encouraging local meetings and assisting partners with tenders, architectural issues and customer engagements.

Tine Sorensen also joins the team as technical account manager.

She has spent the last five years as a Drupal developer, spending most of her time in the publishing industry in Denmark.

Other appointments include Chris O’Neill as a client advisor and Daniel Worthy is part of a new global team responsible for the uptime and scalability of the Acquia Cloud, which is an open Cloud platform for Drupal, built on Amazon Web Services Elastic Compute Cloud.

Worthy will be responsible for designing and developing tools that automatically deploy, maintain and monitor LAMP-based hosting environments, as well as researching, specifying and testing hosting infrastructures.

Acquia opened its Asia Pacific headquarters in Sydney in November last year.

Acquia was co-founded by Drupal project’s creator, Dries Buytaert, in 2007.

OKI recently hosted its ChannelOne dealer forum for its executive series channel partners to get together and learn about the company's new high-performance ES8400 A3 multifunction series printers. After a welcome and business overview from OKI Data Australia managing director, Dennie Kawahara, delegates were given a comprehensive overview of the new product, as well as an update on the latest marketing initiatives and software solutions, before being treated to live demos and a product showcase. Partners were also given a preview of OKI’s upcoming A3 digital LED white toner printer. With more than 60 delegates attending from all over the country, the day concluded with dinner at Casa Ristorante Italiano in Sydney and several delegates also participated in a friendly game of golf the following morning.
