Express Online makes redundancies

By-product of integrating its back-end systems into Express Data

Express Online has made some redundancies as the distributor restructures its back-end operations into the Express Data group.

Express Online CEO, Danny Moore, confirmed some redundancies were made and some changes were coming in effect as a result of the back-end integration into Express Data. It will be absorbing all areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable and corporate and finance type functions.

Moore would not put a figure on the number of redundancies made, but said some roles were absorbed into Express Data.

Express Online has been in the process of integration of Simms International since its acquisition more than 12 months ago.

"There will be a deeper integration into EDs back office and that’s where the majority of the restructuring has come from,” Moore said.

“It’s taken 12 months to fully integrate the [Simms] business,” Moore said. “We’re now taking it to the next level and looking at further integration within the ED group and where it makes sense, we will share the back office and leverage ED’s infrastructure."

He said the business has been under review in the past couple months and staff were being informed about the changes on February 12.

Express Online and Express Data will continue to operate as separate entities.

Moore said there had also been some minor changes in other areas of the business as it focuses on three growth pillars in mobility, SMB and consumer solutions.

“We’ve got a very strong value proposition around that and we’ve been marketing that to the channel, which we haven’t done in a long time,” he said.
