Open Cloud company, Rackspace Hosting, has appointed Alan Perkins, a Cloud computing evangelist and IT industry veteran, to its Asia-Pacific (APAC) leadership as the region’s director of technology and product.
Based in Sydney, Perkins will be “bringing the message of the open Cloud innovation to the Australian business community.”
“This is an important time for the development of open Cloud technology as Australian firms align to truly flexible computing models that will ensure they can perform with maximum agility in both the short and long term,” Perkins said.
“With the launch of an Australian datacentre and the company’s rapid growth in the region, it’s a great time to be coming on board.”
Before Rackspace, Perkins spend 10 years with software developer, Altium, in leadership and specialist consulting roles, including seven years as chief information officer (CIO). While there, he prepared and implemented strategies to move the entire business systems to the Cloud and was responsible for driving company-wide efficiencies and innovations.
